Service Description

This seminar marks the introduction to our new Health Preservation Seminar Series to be given monthly during the autumn. Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Qi Gong, and Tai Chi, it provides a foundation for the specialist seminars that follow. Shifu Liu is sharing with us his profound knowledge of TCM, and Qigong practices for autumn health preservation and body conditioning. • Da Bei Qigong – Thousand Hands & Thousand Eyes Wonderful Sequential Practice (Parts I & II), including both static and dynamic Qigong exercises together with the Six Healing Sounds. • The principles of Yin–Yang and the Five Elements, and their practical applications in health preservation and Qigong practice. • Understanding the pathways and circulation patterns of the Fourteen Meridians according to Traditional Chinese Medicine theory. • Qigong acupressure and Tui Na massage techniques for the prevention and regulation of common autumn health concerns. • Practical hands-on training. Timetable: 10:00 – 6:00 10:00–10:30 Learning Qigong hand seals (Mudras). 10:30–11:30 Practising static Qigong exercises with the different hand seals. 11:30–11:45 Break. 11:45–1:00 Practising Thousand Hands & Thousand Eyes dynamic Qigong together with the Six Healing Sounds. 1:00–2:00 Lunch Break. 2:00–3:00 Studying Yin–Yang and Five Elements theory, the circulation pathways of the Fourteen Meridians, and their practical applications. 3:00–4:00 Learning Yin–Yang tonifying and reducing techniques used in Qigong acupressure and Tui Na massage. 4:00–4:15 Break. 4:15–6:00 Practical Session. Participants will practise the techniques in pairs and experience changes in the flow of Qi within the body, and will gain personal experience of how Qigong practice and traditional techniques may support everyday health and wellbeing. Preparing for the weather changing from warm to cooler temperatures in autumn, the air becomes drier and the body may be affected by seasonal changes. Please bring a yoga style mat, cushion, or blanket.
