Workshop Cost: Non Members £20, Members £15 Workshops are of general interest and open to all levels of student practice, from beginners to advanced. > 1 December Bagua Zhang – Workshop Bagua Zhang with Shifu Liu Come and try this important internal martial art, Bagua Zhang, (eight trigram palm), is characterised by the practice of circle walking and forms. Suitable for all levels. You can learn the forms on an individual basis, so all can join in at any time. > 3, 10, 17 & 24 November, 4 consecutive Workshops held at 2 venues (see below) Laojia Yi Lu, 1st Chen Traditional Long Form Times: Saturdays 2.00-6.00pm Laojia Yi Lu is the 1st traditional Chen long form developed over 120 years ago from the original sets of Chen style Tai Ji Quan and is the basis for many modern tai ji styles. We will teach the routine over 4 successive Saturday workshops. As well as teaching the form step by step we will also include posture correction, fajing (energy releases) and the rarely taught martial applications contained in the movements. This is a great opportunity to learn the whole form and get an overview of its importance. A chance to learn Chen Zhenglei's Beginner’s form which is the entry point for the longer traditional 74 Part Chen form; understand and learn the energy releases and martial applications that give meaning to the movements. The workshops are divided into 2 parts and are suitable for every level, all students will benefit and gain understanding of the essential Chen style. In Workshop 2, Shifu Liu will continue teaching the second part of the form, the fajin and applications. This workshop naturally leads on from the previous one and they both are the core of the Level 2 syllabus > 15 September Cultivating Energy Workshop
What is tai ji, what is qi gong? This will be an important workshop for learning about the Chinese internal arts of tai ji and qi gong. Shifu Liu wants to help everyone understand the inner essence of Chen tai ji and qi gong, and help give us the means to develop our own internal energy practice. This workshop is suitable for all, complete beginners and experienced students will benefit and their training will improve. > 28 July Qi Gong Healing Sounds Workshop How to use mantra and sounds in combination with body position to target the organs and help heal the body. This is one of the powerful Da Bei Qi Gong series. Healing sounds practice is suitable for everyone to try. Time: Saturday 1.30-5.30pm Cost: Non Members £40, Members £35 > 22 July New Camden Festival, party in Camden Square Tai Ji Circle Demonstration – Chen Tai Ji Time: Sunday 22 July at 1.15pm (approx) > July Chen Tai Ji Workshops 7 July • Laojia Yi Lu, Part 3 14 July • Laojia Yi Lu, Part 4 We are continuing the Laojia Yi Lu workshop over the next 2 weekends. Laojia Yi Lu is the 74 Part Form, the 1st traditional Chen long form developed over 120 years ago from the original sets of Tai Ji first created by General Chen Wangting (founder of the Chen style some 400 years ago). It is the basis for the development of other more contemporary styles of tai ji, such as the Yang style as well as the basis for the more modern Chen forms such as Xinjia Yi Lu (New frame). Knowledge of this traditional form provides an essential basis for the modern Chen style taiji forms practised today. We will teach step by step the complete 74 movements of this beautiful form over the 4 weekend workshops, give movement and posture correction and some fajin (explosive energy) practice. These workshops are suitable for students who have some Chen tai ji experience, who have studied the 18 part form and want to move onto this more challenging long form (upon which the 18 form is based), and explore the Chen style more deeply.

Shifu Liu will teach the 42 Form slowly step by step over 4 Saturday workshops. The form is composed of 4 main sections one of which will be taught each workshop with revision of the previous sections each time. It is a mixed style form with lyrical movements specifically designed for competition, it is easier for those with Yang style experience to pick up. Everyone with some tai ji experience welcome to come along.
